Orchestra Concert SeriesSaturday, October 18 at 7:00 PM Corning Museum of Glass Join us for a spine-tingling night of music that stirs the imagination and sends shivers down your spine! From the eerie elegance of Danse Macabre to the haunting beauty of Phantom of the Opera, this one-of-a-kind concert brings together iconic scores from stage and screen with the dramatic power of classical masterworks. You’ll recognize chilling favorites like the Funeral March of a Marionette (Alfred Hitchcock’s theme), the suspenseful suite from Psycho, and spellbinding themes from Harry Potter and E.T. Saturday, December 13 at 3:00 PM Clemens Center, Elmira Followed by the OSFL annual dinner fundraiser, “Afterglow” Celebrate the magic of the season with a heartwarming concert that brings our community together in music and spirit. From the shimmering beauty of Wang Jie’s The Winter that United Us to the toe-tapping fun of Sleigh Ride—complete with festive hats—this concert has something for everyone. Enjoy the dazzling talents of featured jazz pianist Christian Li, the inspiring voices of the Corning Painted Post Choristers, and the rich harmonies of the Chorus of the Southern Finger Lakes in uplifting selections by John Rutter (honoring his 80th birthday) and local favorite Dan Forrest. From the sweeping beauty of Copland’s Appalachian Spring to the bold adventure of Rey’s Theme by John Williams, this program blends tradition and imagination. Be among the first to hear a world premiere by composer Robert Dusek, and cheer on our Young Artist Competition winner taking the spotlight with a dazzling concerto performance. Musicians' Choice Chamber Music Concert SeriesFollowing the tradition of the Musicians’ Choice Chamber Music Series, oral program notes will be given by the musicians, interspersed throughout the performance. The short format program (approximately 75 minutes) is presented in an intimate, relaxed setting without intermission.
Thursday, November 6 at 7:30 PM 360 Aurora, Elmira Heights Hear “Storied Winds,” a trio embracing the notion that music speaks, featuring Lesley McClelland (oboe and English horn), Claire McKenney (horn) and David Resig (bassoon and contra bassoon). Music and narration for this unique instrumentation by Beethoven, Telemann, Wilder, Bozza, and more. Thursday, January 22 at 7:30 PM Corning Museum of Glass Enjoy the “Felix Piano Quartet,” featuring Reuben Foley (violin), Max Buckholtz (viola), Rintaro Wada (cello), and Ritsuko Wada (piano). Hear Beethoven's String Trio in G Major and Brahms' Piano Quartet No. 1. Friday, February 27 at 7:30 PM 171 Cedar Arts, Corning An evening of the classics with “Janus,” featuring Laura Campbell (flute), Erica Howard (oboe), Richard MacDowell (clarinet), and Michael Salmirs (piano). Music includes Caprice by Saint-Saëns, Sonata by Milhaud, and more. Friday, April 17 at 7:30 PM Horseheads Location TBD Enjoy jazz renditions of songs you know and love from “TRIO 315,” with Mario Pietra (string bass), Joe Pietra (piano), and Byron Cage (drums). You’ll hear Radiohead, Nirvana, Lady Gaga, The Beatles, a few original compositions, and more. Friday, June 12 at 7:30 PM Arnot Art Museum, Elmira A French classical evening with “Tres Cordes,” featuring Lia Kettlecamp (violin), Shade Zajac (cello), and Rosanna Moore (harp).
