About our featured soloist! Laura Darrell.
Laura Darrell is thrilled to be working with maestro Toshi once again for the first time in about 20 years! She has acted professionally since the age of 10, appearing on TV, feature films, indie shorts and webseries, many of which have appeared in major festivals, including Sundance and Cinequest. Laura has also performed lead roles in theaters across the country and internationally. She graduated a Magna Cum Laude Scholar from USC (LA), and before that she attended NYU Tisch (both undergrad) as well as the Oxford Shakespeare Intensive at BADA (UK).
Laura most recently shot a scene opposite Keira Knightley in the feature film Boston Strangler, which is due to release in 2023, produced by 20th Century Fox and Hulu. She played Sister Lee on SYFY’s second season of “Happy!” starring Christopher Meloni. She also recurred as Anna on the first season of “Dietland” on AMC, starring Joy Nash and Julianna Margulies. Before that Laura was seen in movie theaters as mean girl, Eileen in Alicia Slimmer’s feature film debut, Creedmoria, starring Stef Dawson (Hunger Games), which won many awards including Best Comedy at Cinequest Film Festival. She co-produced a film titled Oh For a Muse of Fire with director Pete Rohan, starring Eva Kaminsky and Julian Elfer, which made the festival circuit during the 2020 pandemic, no easy feat!
Favorite theater credits include Madge Larrabee in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure at Portland Stage, Cinderella in Into the Woods at Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Encores! The Golden Apple at New York City Center, as well as John Kander and Greg Pierce’s new musical, Kid Victory, which ran Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theater, directed by Liesl Tommy (Official Cast Album released).
