The Mary Tripp Marks School-Time Series
at the Clemens Center
The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes is pleased to once again be a part of the Mary Tripp Marks School-Time Series at the Clemens Center for the 2019-2020 season. This program has reached out to area educators and their students to provide performing arts experiences enriching the lives of young people.
Over the years, the audience has grown to include not only regional public and private schools, but also home-schools, pre-schools, individual families and the general public. Since 1979, the Mary Tripp Marks School-Time Series has touched the lives of more than half a million young people with curriculum-related programs. For many of them, this is their first introduction to the experience of a live orchestral concert. |

Clemens Center
A boy named Peter, his grandfather, a wolf, a bird, a duck, a cat, and hunters will appear on stage dancing and acting out the musical narrative of Peter and the Wolf. This children’s favorite composed by Sergei Prokofiev uses different melodies, instruments, and styles of playing to represent each character. The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, conducted by Toshiyuki Shimada, is joined by the Wyoming Seminary Dance Company to bring this story to life through music and dance.
Also on this program will be an introduction by a living composer, Polina Nazaykinskaya, as the OSFL performs her composition Fenix.
Wyoming Seminary Dance Company in Peter and the Wolf
WYOMING SEMINARY DANCE COMPANY
Founded in 1981, the Wyoming Seminary Dance Company is comprised of about 50 dancers from grades 7 through 12. These students attend Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School located in Kingston, Pa. where our Upper School is located and Forty Fort, PA where our Lower School is based. Membership is open to all students regardless of their level of proficiency and is designed to give participants a rigorous, yet enjoyable dance experience grounded in technique and discipline but also offering a means for creative expression through movement. In addition to classes in ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop, the Company prepares dance works created by faculty, alumni and upper level students from the dance program. Each May, the Company presents a full-length dance production performed in the Kirby Center for the Creative Arts, a first-class, state-of-the art theater on the campus in Kingston, PA.
